Liverpool edge closer to another UCL final

By Michael Danquah   Sadio Mane completed a good run for Liverpool as they triumphed over Villarreal by two goals to nil in the UEFA champions league second semi-final fixture at home in Anfield. Sadio Mane scores for Liverpool  Pablo Estupinan scored an own goal assisted by Liverpool captain Johan Henderson before Mohammed Salah's sublime pass found Sadio Mane who tucked in the ball cooly into the net to make it two nil. Elsewhere in Italy, Inter Milan's hopes of winning the serie A scudetto was shortlived following a shocking 2-1 defeat to Bologna courtesy of Ionut Radu's careless mistake. Citizens win in seven goal thriller at Ethihad

By Michael Danquah Manchester City made a big statement in the UEFA champions league after beating Real Madrid by four goals to three in the semi-final first leg fixture at the Ethihad stadium . The reigning English Premier league champions were electrifying on a night of hot pulsating football action as Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus  grabbed four important goals for the Citizens.  Silva celebrate wonder goal  Karim Benzema's brace and Vinicius Jnr fine finish was enough to prove a point for the 13 times winners, Real Madrid who were impressive throughout the encounter. Description The race for the top 4 in England took a sensational twist as Arsenal looks poised to book a champions league spot ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners who stole a 2-3 deserved win over Chelsea in the midweek, shocked  embattled Manchester United with a 3-1 emphatic victory at the Emirates, courtesy of Granite Xhaka's fine winner. It has been a busy week of football action across Europe, and last night was a thrilling night for Liverpool who recorded emphatic victories as well as Villarreal, Chelsea and others. The six-times champions league winners were ruthless as they hammered Manchester United 4-0 at the Anfield Stadium, to go two points clear ahead of Manchester City on top of the English Premier league table. Mohammed Salah took his goal tally to 22 goals after bagging a  brace that ensured the comprehensive victory for the Reds who were impressive throughout the encounter. BARCELONA CRASH OUT OF EUROPA CUP

Manchester City and Liverpool all sailed through in a very dramatic fashion; the English Premier league champions endured a long night of pulsating football game as they drew 0-0 with a hard pressing Athletico Madrid side to qualify on a (1-0 ) aggregate scoreline. Ugly scenes erupted in the closing moments when Stefan Savic caused a stir with an unfair challenge on Phil Foden , which resulted to Felipe being sent off for a second bookable offence for the Spanish side. By Kwame Michael   Takyi in white straps Ghanaian Olympic bronze featherweight boxing medalist, Samuel Takyi is set to feature in his first professional boxing fight. Takyi in action The 21-yr old who turned professional recently will face Cameroonian, Kamarudeen Boyefio at the Accra City Hotel on Friday, 15th April, 2022. Boyefio , 34, has won 11 of his 21 fights and lost nine, and would be hoping to stop the young Ghanaian who is hungry for a debut pro glory. The much-hyped fight is sponsored by the Bazooka Boxing Promotion outfit who signed Takyi onto it's platform recently. However, the two boxers have been engaged in a verbal war ahead of the fight with the latest coming from the young Ghanaian Olympic champion. By Kwame Michael | 4:35 am Chukwueze the hero  Villarreal defied all odds to book a champions league semi-final spot after holding Bayern Munich to 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena, Germany, to qualify on a 2-1 aggregate score. Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze  scored the all important equaliser for the yellow submarines to sail through for the first time in many decades, whilst Robert Lewandoski grabbed the only goal for the Bavarians. Issahaku in Sporting Lisbon colors The former Dreams FC winger was unveiled yesterday at the club after he penned a 5 year contract with the Portuguese giants, with a release clause of 60million euros. Issahaku won the Totalenergies AFCON U-20 cup in Mauritania last year with the Black Satellites, and was adjudged the best player of the tournament. By Kwame Michael It was a sad night for Chelsea football club in the champions league as they lost by 3 goals to 1 to a well organized Real Madrid side at the Stamford bridge. France striker Karim Benzema scored another hat-trick, after sinking PSG earlier in the 2nd round tie.  The hat-trick hero A quick fire double in the first half, and a lucky third in the second half saw the Real Madrid captain grab his 37th goal of the season in 36 appearances, and becoming the first player to ever score a hat-trick against Chelsea. Chelsea pulled one back througha  Kai Havertz late fine header in the first half but were unlucky to secure a second following Edouard Mendy's careless mispass to Antonio Rudiger resulting in a third goal for the visitors. De Bruyne scores for City The Belgian talisman pinned Jan Oblak with a beautiful low shot into the far right corner of the post to increase his goal tally to 11 in 18 games so far for the Citizens. 2022 FIFA world cup draw

By Kwame Michael   The Federation of International Football (FIFA) held a successful 2022 world cup draw at Doha, the capital city of Qatar. The event took place at the Doha Convention center, and was conducted by ex football stars Ali Daei of Iran, Nigeria's Jay Jay Okocha, Bora Milotunovic , Brazilian legend, Cafu, Rabah Madjer of Algeria, and, the legendary German forward Lothar Matthaus, who all took turns to pick balls for the pairings. Also in attendance were celebrities such as Arsene Wenger, Idris Elba, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure amongst others. The draw witnessed some tough pairings and interesting fixtures that got some coaches uncomfortable as well as mixed feelings and  shocking reactions by some ex players.  Four time African champions Ghana were handed a good test as they face old foes Portugal and Uruguay, and then South Korea in Group H.  A total of twenty nine countries were seeded in Pots A, B, C, D, E,F and G, and duly grouped accordingly awaitin...
