It was a thrilling night of football in the UEFA champions league quarter final 2nd-leg final round fixtures.

Manchester City and Liverpool all sailed through in a very dramatic fashion; the English Premier league champions endured a long night of pulsating football game as they drew 0-0 with a hard pressing Athletico Madrid side to qualify on a (1-0 ) aggregate scoreline.

Ugly scenes erupted in the closing moments when Stefan Savic caused a stir with an unfair challenge on Phil Foden, which resulted to Felipe being sent off for a second bookable offence for the Spanish side.

On the flip side, Liverpool had to be resilient to contain the onslaught of a resurgent Benfica team, who matched them with equal pace for the best soccer game of their lives, to qualify on (6-3) aggregate as the game ended 3-3 in full time.

Liverpool got off on a flying start with a brilliant header by Ibrahima Konate before Brazilian striker, Roberto Firmino added the second and third respectively.

Gonzalo Ramos , Yaremchuk, and Darwin Nunéz grabbed all goals for the visitors who were applauded by their fans for a spirited comeback.
