Kevin De Bruyne struck a fine goal to give Manchester City a 1 -0 first leg lead over 'hard knocks' Athletico Madrid at the Ethihad stadium.

The Belgian talisman pinned Jan Oblak with a beautiful low shot into the far right corner of the post to increase his goal tally to 11 in 18 games so far for the Citizens.

Liverpool also recorded an emphatic 3-1 away win over Benfica in Portugal. 











Ibrahima Konaté scored his first Liverpool goal as Sadio Mane and former FC Porto winger, Luiz Diaz completed the rout for the Reds. 

Darwin Nunez netted a consolation goal for the Portuguese Primera club taking his goal tally to five in the competition so far.
