VIDEO: Inaki Williams end goal drought in Madagascar Win

By Osei Mykel

Inaki Williams scored the only and winning goal for Ghana as they beat Madagascar 1-0 at home in the 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS group opener

Inaki Williams celebrate winning goal

The Athletic Bilbao striker waited to net his first goal for the Black Stars in ten appearances ending his goal drought for the West African nation.

Here are some talking points to consider

  • The goal was assisted by Gideon Mensah who also assisted Felix Afena-Gyan's first goal for the team prior to the World Cup in Qatar.
  • The goals were all against Madagascar who lost three nil to Ghana in the CAF Nations Cup qualifier in 2022.

Ghana is scheduled to play the Comoros in what is perceived to be a revenge mission for their second group game match after a shocking 2-3 defeat to the Islanders in the 2022 AFCON, where they exited in the first round.

Inaki Williams is expected to replicate his fine scoring form when the team play on Tuesday, 21st November, 2023.
