History was made at Anfield as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United by seven goals to nil to move up to 5th place on the Premier league table.

From Cody Gakpos' awesome opener to Roberto Firmino's late finish, Jurgen Klopp announced the Reds comeback in style in the club's first ever seven-goal hauler against the Red Devils since April 1916.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Mohammed Salah all grabbed a brace each with Salah breaking Robbie Fowler's record for Liverpool's all-time leading goal scorer by adding two to take his tally up to 129 goals.

The heroic victory marked Eric Ten Haag's heaviest career defeat as a Manager, and he is expected to bounce back to winning ways in subsequent games with the Carabao Cup champions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool prepare to seek redemption when they face UCL champions Real Madrid, in Spain in the second leg encounter of the UCL round of 16 matches after losing 2-5 penultimately at Anfield.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

By Michael Osei  2023 AFCON WINNERS  The Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire have won the 2023 AFCON after beating Nigeria in regulation time. The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The Super Eagles got into the lead through a Moses Truust-Ekong header in the 38th minute which sent thrills throughout the stadium. Nigeria looked hungry for glory but managed to end the first half on a lone goal after creating a few good chances. Comeback Kings: Ivory coast stun Senegal to book AFCON quarter -finals berth

By Michael Osei  Jubilant Elephants  Senegal got eliminated from the ongoing 2023 AFCON on penalties by a resilient Ivory Coast side after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in full-time. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal. Hamad Diallo got on the score sheet blasting home a thunderous shot four minutes into the encounter to give the Teranga Lions the lead. The game progresssd into a high tempo duel with both teams creating and missing beautiful chances.
