AS Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt record big wins

Tammy Abraham scored the only goal of the night and his 25th of the season as AS Roma secured a 1-0 win over Leicester city in the UEFA Europa conference league, second semi-final fixture at the Stadio Olympico in Italy.

The Italian giants cruised into the final of the inaugral competition for the first time after qualifying on a (2-1) scoreline following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in England.

They will face Dutch Eredivisie side. Feynoord Rotterdam in the final in Tirana. Albania on May 25.

Elsewhere in the Europa cup, Eintracht Frankfurt booked a final spot after recording a 1-0 home win over West Ham United following a 2-1 first leg triumph of the English side. Thanks to a Raphael Borre super strike.

They will battle Scottish champions, Glasgow Rangers who also secured an emphatic 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in Scotland. 

The finals are slated for 18 May this year in the Spanish city of Seville.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

By Michael Osei  2023 AFCON WINNERS  The Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire have won the 2023 AFCON after beating Nigeria in regulation time. The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The Super Eagles got into the lead through a Moses Truust-Ekong header in the 38th minute which sent thrills throughout the stadium. Nigeria looked hungry for glory but managed to end the first half on a lone goal after creating a few good chances. Comeback Kings: Ivory coast stun Senegal to book AFCON quarter -finals berth

By Michael Osei  Jubilant Elephants  Senegal got eliminated from the ongoing 2023 AFCON on penalties by a resilient Ivory Coast side after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in full-time. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal. Hamad Diallo got on the score sheet blasting home a thunderous shot four minutes into the encounter to give the Teranga Lions the lead.
