Super Eagles arrive in Ghana ahead of crunchy tie

The super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Ghana ahead of the 1st leg tie of the two legged world cup qualifier playoff against the Black stars.

The team landed at the Kumasi International airport this morning, with a full contingent in high spirits.


They are expected to train tonight at the 40,528 capacity Baba Yara sports stadium which will host the crucial tie which kicks off at 19:30gmt (WAT).

Ghana despite their poor campaign at the recently held AFCON in Cameroon, have an upper hand historically, having won 21 of 49 previous meetings with 18 ending in a draw.

In a related report, Ghanaian midfield star and Sheriff Tiraspol playmaker, Edmund Addo have been reportedly flown to Maldova for treatment after picking up a late injury in yesterday's training with the Stars at Kumasi, with no replacement in sight for him.

Similarly, St. Pauli talisman, Daniel Kofi-Kyereh was excluded from today's training following a knock to his knee yesterday. He is reportedly in a stable condition.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. By Michael Osei  Jubilant Elephants  Senegal got eliminated from the ongoing 2023 AFCON on penalties by a resilient Ivory Coast side after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in full-time. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal.
