History was made in England today as Arsenal and Chelsea recorded emphatic victories.

Arsenal kept their champions league qualification hopes alive and became the third club in England to score a record 2,000 goals behind Liverpool and Manchester United following a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Bukayo Saka drove a fine low shot into the far left corner to seal the winner for the Gunners who grabbed their fifth win in their last six games for the first time since 2011, stretching their lead over 5th placed Manchester United with 4 points.

The FA cup quarter finals was also in action at Riverside where Midddlesbrough were beaten 0-2 at home by European champions Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku bagged his 3rd goal of the competition with a cool finish at half time before Hakim Ziyech added a second curler to seal the deserved win for the Blues.
Chelsea have now gone 9 matches unbeaten and occupy third position on the table 7points behind 2nd placed Liverpool who have a game in hand.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

By Michael Osei  2023 AFCON WINNERS  The Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire have won the 2023 AFCON after beating Nigeria in regulation time. The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The Super Eagles got into the lead through a Moses Truust-Ekong header in the 38th minute which sent thrills throughout the stadium. Nigeria looked hungry for glory but managed to end the first half on a lone goal after creating a few good chances. By Michael Osei  Jubilant Elephants  Senegal got eliminated from the ongoing 2023 AFCON on penalties by a resilient Ivory Coast side after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in full-time. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal. Hamad Diallo got on the score sheet blasting home a thunderous shot four minutes into the encounter to give the Teranga Lions the lead. The game progresssd into a high tempo duel with both teams creating and missing beautiful chances.
