However, the likes of  Antionio Conte, former Chelsea Italian boss, and Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola have also taken swipes at the British government decisions.

The Russian-Israeli billionaire has been sanctioned by the UK government, with his assets frozen, though Chelsea have been given a special licence which allows them to continue playing games, plunging the club into uncertainty after the owner had earlier announced plans to sell up.









The Russian is associated with a person who is/has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining/threatening territorial integrity, sovereignty & independence of Ukraine, namely Vladimir Putin, with whom (he) has had close relationship for decades,” the UK government's statement about the sanctions read

He is further speculated to be aiding the Russian president in manufacturing armoured tanks through his steel manufacturing company Evrat which supplies steel to the Eastern European giants leading to the club's bank account has been disabled temporarily by Barclays bank.



However, current reports confirms that Mr Abramovich has been allowed to sell the club based on assurances that the sale proceeds would be given to victims of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war as planned earlier. 

Prior to this, the UK government had decided to sell the club on behalf of Mr Abramovich but certain considerations were observed to rescind their decision.

In view of this, Trivago ™, a Portuguese company sponsoring the Club's training kits have temporarily placed their contract extension talks on hold as well as Hyundai who are also considering a review of their contracts with the London club but the good news is that Nike has decided to stick to their contract irrespective of the dire situation of the club.

Inspite of their unfortunate plight, the Blues continued in their winning streak last night as they hammered Norwich City 1-3 away from home with goals from Trevor Chalobah, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz who has scored 5 goals in his last six games.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal.
