Last week was really exciting with lots of drama and action especially in the English Premier league where the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United battled for a champions league qualifications spot next season whereas Chelsea continued their impressive form with a hard-fought victory.

Kai Havertz & Jorginho celebrate a goal

A superb sublime finish by Kai Havertz in the 89 minute was all Chelsea needed to grab all three points against resurgent Newcastle united to stretch an 8 point gap ahead of Arsenal.

Elsewhere in London, Thomas Partey netted his second goal of the season with another fine header after winning Arsenal player of the month last month. The Ghanaian midfield star put the Gunners ahead early in the 1st half before Alexander Lacazette scored a late penalty to seal a well deserved victory for them.

2023 AFCON: Triumphant Elephants win third AFCON Title on home soil

By Michael Osei  2023 AFCON WINNERS  The Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire have won the 2023 AFCON after beating Nigeria in regulation time. The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The Super Eagles got into the lead through a Moses Truust-Ekong header in the 38th minute which sent thrills throughout the stadium. Nigeria looked hungry for glory but managed to end the first half on a lone goal after creating a few good chances. Comeback Kings: Ivory coast stun Senegal to book AFCON quarter -finals berth

By Michael Osei  Jubilant Elephants  Senegal got eliminated from the ongoing 2023 AFCON on penalties by a resilient Ivory Coast side after playing out an exciting 1-1 draw in full-time. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal. Hamad Diallo got on the score sheet blasting home a thunderous shot four minutes into the encounter to give the Teranga Lions the lead. The game progresssd into a high tempo duel with both teams creating and missing beautiful chances.
