Ayew celebrate a goal against Al Dunhail

Qatari outfit Al Sadd bowed out of the #AmirCup as Ghana Black stars captain Andre Ayew scored a Golazo🔥in their 2-3 defeat to Al Dunhail in the quarter final in Doha.

In Spain, Karim Benzema continued his goal rout for Real Madrid scoring a brace in the Galacticos 0-3 away win over Ghana's Baba Iddrissu Real Mallorca. 

Real Madrid in joyful mood

The win consolidates a 10 point stretch on top of the league ahead of second placed Sevilla and Barcelona respectively. The brace takes the Frenchman's total goals to 32 In all competitions with 22 in coming from the league so far this season whilst Vinicius Jnr occupied second position with 14 goals in the league.

The West Africans picked up their third title since 2015 and became the first host nation to win the competition after Egypt in 2006. In a much anticipated final that saw the 60,000 capacity Alassane Ouattara stadium filled to the brim, both West African nations exhibited high-level football with the Ivoriens dominating the encounter on possession. The Super Eagles got into the lead through a Moses Truust-Ekong header in the 38th minute which sent thrills throughout the stadium. The beauty of the AFCON cannot be matched when a resurgent Ivorien side that lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the competition stepped up to redeem their image in a thrilling 4-5 penalty win over defending champions Senegal. Hamad Diallo got on the score sheet blasting home a thunderous shot four minutes into the encounter to give the Teranga Lions the lead.
