2022 WCQ: FIFA medical officer dies in stampede

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the death of Dr. Joseph Kabungo, a Zambian medical officer who died few hours after a stampede broke out in the world cup qualifier playoff between west African rivals Nigeria vs Ghana, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja Nigeria.
Dr Kabungo was the CAF Doping officer for the crucial game which turned sour after the super Eagles lost out on qualification hopes following a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars of Ghana.

His family and friends have been duly contacted and informed of his demise by the continent football ruling body (CAF).

In a related story, Henry Asante Twum, spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), hinted about the possibility of three Ghanaian players namely: Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu's eligibility to play for the Black Stars in the upcoming FIFA world cup in Qatar.
