Roman Abramovich

Reports from England suggest that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to relieve his position at the club.

According to the London club media, the 55 yr old Ukrainian has decided to hand over the stewardship and care of the club to charitable organization.

The Russian bought the London club in the summer of 2003, since when they have won several Premier League titles, multiple European trophies and - most recently - the Club World Cup.

In a statement, he said , "I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC," Abramovich said in his statement.

"I believe that currently they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans."

In an interview with Telegraph, Maria Granosvkaia and Petr Cech were understood to be assigned with the responsibility of transfers and player management,
